WRUP: Regime Change Version

Regular readers of the site know that the higher administration is being shifted round here at Massively, that means that Brianna Royce will now be in cost. Whereas we'll always miss Shawn Schuster's unmistakable voice and work on the positioning, the change will seemingly appear invisible to most readers.

I, for one, wish to welcome our new overlord, for whom I don't have anything however respect and admiration. By complete coincidence, this week's header picture happens to be of her favourite animal. Also, I may have sent a variety of gift baskets of fruit to her house. And I'm positive we will all agree that earlier situations of tomfoolery should not be taken under consideration when she now considers that she has complete energy over me.

Shifting on from the welcoming of overlords, it is time for this week's installment of WRUP, featuring the Massively workers explaining our plans for the weekend in addition to whether or not or not a graphical improve would convey us again to our first MMOs. Check out our plans past the break, and tell us what you will be as much as in the comments!

@Beau_Hindman: I'll be settling down on a new deed in Wurm Online, continuing to grind my teeth as I look forward to my new Laptop to get here, and putting my exploration cash the place my mouth is by finally downloading IMVU. It is a social MMO that appears very... totally different. I am additionally still gathering my checklist of pre-World of Warcraft MMOs for protection. Luckily I still have most of my old accounts!

If I up to date any graphics for a few of my favourite games, that will mean a downgrade for many of them. I would like graphics which can be extra stylized, particularly like these in Free Realms or Clone Wars Adventures. I would like to see a "critical" recreation completed with a extra stylized aptitude. Wurm On-line can keep how it is, but I actually want to see some new avatars. I know they're coming, however boy, I can not wait!

@nyphur: This weekend I'll be entertaining a visiting Swedish friend from my old World of Warcraft guild, working arduous on Predestination, and trying to persuade my housemates to play extra Guild Wars 2!

My first MMO was RuneScape, and its graphical updates have truly introduced me back a number of occasions. I started back when it was a blocky world with 2-D goblin sprites, and the primary huge 3-D update hooked me back in for several months. I've returned periodically to see what the game is like, and the graphics are undoubtedly the very first thing I search for. EVE On-line has the identical impact, with large graphical updates pulling individuals again in to attempt the sport once more.

@nbrianna: I'll be dividing my recreation time between Guild Wars 2 and City of Heroes. Double XP is on completely in CoH, I hear, so it's the proper time to roll up a brand new character in time for the Positron's Ally occasion next week.

My first MMO was Ultima On-line, and graphical upgrades did bring me back many occasions. That recreation has had extra improved shoppers than any MMO I know... but those upgraded shoppers often get abandoned by the crew earlier than they're completed as a result of many of the veterans just refuse to change. Very irritating!

@Eliot_Lefebvre: City of Heroes, Star Wars: The Outdated Republic, and the ever-in style Providing Help to a Cherished One with a Chilly. Sooner or later I'll really play Guild Wars 2 for greater than 10 minutes at a stretch. If I'm lucky, it is going to be before the end of the decade.

I am really the fallacious particular person to ask about returning to a recreation for a graphical improve as a result of graphics have never been what's turned me off from a game. I did not initially depart Last Fantasy XI because of the graphics; I left as a result of the sport wasn't truly fun to play. If I see indicators that the game I did not like X amount of time in the past has gotten higher, I'll come working right again, however putting a brand new coat of paint on a recreation I wasn't having fun with does not lure me back.

@elixabethclaire: The key World continues to be on pause for me as I dedicate my time to Guild Wars 2. I would wish to hit 80 by the middle of the upcoming week, so I will be doing quite a lot of PvE and WvW this weekend. I did not mean to, but I've bought a complete agenda plotted out for my momentary "principal" after she hits 80, not to mention a bit roster of who is in want of leveling after her.

Not a lot gaming for me this weekend. Perhaps some The secret World.

I go back and play all of my old MMOs anyway no matter updates, though I'm very a lot trying ahead to Anarchy Online's eventual reskin.

@Sypster: My MMO to do checklist is a mile vast at this point. I actually need to put a cap on Volume III Ebook 6 in Lord of the Rings On-line, check out the brand new Autumn Festival in RIFT, get by way of Egypt in The secret World, and make the large bucks in Guild Wars 2.

As for graphical upgrades, well, if Anarchy On-line ever will get that newfangled redux off the bottom, then you possibly can wager I will be first in line. It would be nice to see what a slightly extra updated AO would appear to be.

@JayeRnH: This weekend I am busy with a family journey, but in any spare time I have, I will log into RIFT and dangle out subsequent to Atrophinius within the Autumn occasion just to listen to his hilarious voice-overs. Aside from that, I'll most likely pop into Minecraft with the youngsters so we are able to work on our tree house.

My first MMO was EverQuest, and I would be more more likely to return if the sport actually reverted back to the old graphics of avatars and revamped zones.

@mvmatt: This weekend is my roommate's birthday, so we have got some mutual associates coming to remain for the weekend. As a result, my gaming time is probably going to be occupied more by break up-display mayhem than MMO funtimes. But when the opportunity arises, I will be splitting my time between The key World and Guild Wars 2.

And would I go back to EverQuest or Ultima On-line if both one received a graphical update? That's a great query. I want to say yes, however I do not know if I would be telling the reality. I beloved UO and EQ again within the day, but I believe it would take a bit more than a graphical improve to make me a participant once more. For every charmingly dated function that I fondly remember, there's a plethora of actually archaic design decisions that I don't suppose I'd be ready to put up with.

@MJ_Guthrie: Oh my gosh!  Strongcraft.org I get to sport this weekend!! *nearly faints with pleasure* How much can I cram in? Let's see, the vote will not be in for Select my Adventure, so The secret World will be on hold until Monday. (By the best way, go vote!). To fill my weekend, I'm going to dive into GW2 extra (I actually need to check out an Asura), begin plotting more for my EverQuest II neighborhood shopping district in addition to take in a couple of dungeons, and spread my wings in Aion to finish up some quests and possibly even get a number of rounds of PvP Arenas in. I also plan on eating pizza. Mmm.

I would go back in the event that they'd turn the blasted servers back on! (RIP Star Wars Galaxies.)

@mackeypb: I've been enjoying extra Touhou Hisoutensoku (not that any of you recognize what that is), as well as League of Legends. I'm at the moment carrying as Graves, although I'm pretty certain those reading my column already know that. It feels good to play more airdash fighters, though; I really feel like a bit of a void has been stuffed in my gamer coronary heart.

To ensure that me to go back to EQ, it might take a better game, not a graphical update. Really, graphical updates imply virtually nothing to me. If the identical EQ graphics as in 2000 had been on prime of the GW2 engine, I'd still be down for playing it. Excessive-quality graphics are a bonus, not a necessity.

@terilynns: I will probably be jumping into Star Trek Online this weekend to play a couple of Foundry missions to speak about on my UGC podcast. I'll also be in Lord of the Rings Online as I find it very relaxing to farm and craft in that recreation. If time allows, I will probably be back in Glitch as well. And sure, the rumors are true: Some individuals are twisting my arm to present Guild Wars 2 a strive. I would pick it up this weekend.

I'm really glad this week's query would not apply to me. My first MMO continues to be my favourite, and it is a wonderful sport -- Star Trek On-line!

At first of each weekend, we catch up with the Massively workers members and ask them, "What are you enjoying this week?" (Otherwise often known as: WRUP!) Be a part of us to see what we're as much as in and out of game -- and catch us in the comments to tell us what you're playing, too!
